Introduction: How to Fix a Cassette Tape.
This cool compact format started slowly but has outlasted its competitors with no end in sight. Cassette Tape Information The cassette tape was patented in by Philips. This format was invented for its convenience and portability over bulkier reel to reel tapes. Early entries were also fairly low quality and record companies were not quick to accept this format for commercial use. They had grown used to releasing tape versions of popular albums after releasing the LP versions. The tape versions were for serious "audiophiles", but vinyl was supreme and always first. Cassette acceptance was also delayed by a new popular format known as 8-tracks. Though quickly thrust upon the consumer market, users soon found the deficiencies with 8-tracks Of course, the number one problem with 8-Tracks was the fact that most players didn't record, so making your own recordings was a bit dicey. Though cassettes had none of the problems that 8-Tracks did, 8-Tracks still ruled the marketplace for a fairly long time.

There is one very important problem that wasn't covered in your instructions: if the tape unplayed for years doesn't play, fast-forward or go backward one. What can be done? Doesn't work on high-end Pioneer and Nakamichi players? The player hums for a few seconds on any of these 3 functions and then stop, or on another machine, it plays for a second then stops, and after removing the cassette, I notice that inches of tape came out of the cassette. There appears to be resistance from the plastic cassette tape. Should I put a drop of oil on each of the cassette wheel as well as the player's transport system??? RSVP for you or anybody that had that problem and got it fixed. Now, my cassette vintage collection doesn't play. Thank you. Reply 3 years ago.
