By David Baker. The magazine which has come under fire for printing topless photos of the Duchess of Cambridge is partly owned by former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berluscon i. Closer France is published by Mondadori, an Italian company not only part owned by the infamous politician but chaired by his daughter Marina. And as St James's Palace today confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had launched legal action for breach of privacy against the publishers - it will be more unwanted attention for the man already embroiled in a long running trial in Italy. It is not known how much control the publishers have over editorial content for the magazine but whoever is responsible could be set for an uphill legal battle. Lawyers said those responsible for giving the shots the go ahead are likely to find the case very difficult to defend, although profits from the issue would likely far exceed any fine faced - thought to just a few thousand euros. X marks the spot: The long lens pictures taken of the topless Duchess were shot from the side of the road between trees around half a mile away from the chateau. So visibly they have been damaged by the fact the pictures were taken and it is likely a French court would rule in that direction. If Berlusconi has any involvement it could be cause for more concern for the politician who is still involved in the high profile trial surrounding his infamous bunga bunga parties.
