Debnam-Carey began acting at the age of eight. In she was one of 40 young musicians who took part in a two-week programme with the Berlin Philharmonic to create a new piece of music. Debnam-Carey seems to be a go-to actress for those casting shows involving disasters, horror and post-apocalyptic worlds. She appeared in the disaster film Into the Storm, as well as the unaired AMC pilot Galyntine, which involved a society rebuilding after a catastrophic event that shuns technology.
